Custom software for accounting firms.

Your practice runs on clients, jobs, time and deadlines. We model exactly that — then build the system that runs it, from engagement letter to lodgement, so WIP, capacity and job margin are visible while the work is happening.

The problem

Your real workflow lives outside your practice tools.

Fragmentation

A tool, a spreadsheet, an inbox.

Practice management, a workflow spreadsheet and a shared inbox barely agree. Nobody sees capacity, WIP and job status without rebuilding it by hand.

Workarounds

The real process is in spreadsheets.

How jobs actually move — reviews, queries, deadlines — lives in shadow spreadsheets and partners' heads, not the system you pay for.

Blind spots

WIP and recovery, found out late.

Write-offs and recovery are reconstructed after billing, so you manage the practice by rear-view mirror.

Deadlines

Compliance tracked by memory.

BAS, tax and lodgement cycles are chased on a calendar and a checklist — fine until one slips and no system saw it coming.

The Operating Model, applied

From your practice's reality to working software.

We model the entities your practice deals in and the rules that govern them — then engineer each into the Construct, the Shell and the Seer.

Clients & entities
Every client, the entities behind them and their jobs, documents and status in one place.
the Construct
Jobs & time
Time captured against jobs, with work-in-progress visible as it accrues.
the Shell
Deadlines & lodgements
Compliance cycles and due dates modelled as first-class entities, driven by the system.
the Shell
WIP & job margin
Recovery, write-offs and profitability per job — live, not reconstructed at month end.
the Seer
What changes

One model of your practice — so WIP, capacity and job margin are something you see, not something you chase.

Questions, answered

Accounting practices, specifically.

What kind of software does Siphr build for accounting firms?+
Custom systems built around how your practice actually runs — clients and their related entities, jobs and engagements, the people doing the work, time, work-in-progress and lodgement deadlines in one model, rather than a practice management tool, a workflow spreadsheet and a job board that disagree with each other.
How is this different from practice management software like Xero Practice Manager, FYI or Karbon?+
Off-the-shelf practice management assumes a firm like everyone else's and makes you fit its structure, so the way your practice really works ends up in shadow spreadsheets around it. We do the opposite: we model your jobs, workflows, fee arrangements and rules first, then engineer the software directly from that model — so it fits on day one and keeps fitting as you add services.
Can it handle time, WIP, billing and job workflow?+
Yes. Time is captured against jobs with work-in-progress visible as it accrues, and billing, write-offs and recovery are handled from the same model, by your rules. Because it is one model, capacity, WIP ageing and job profitability are live — not reconstructed in a spreadsheet at month end.
Does it track BAS, tax and compliance deadlines?+
Deadlines and lodgement obligations are modelled as first-class entities, so recurring compliance cycles, due dates and the jobs attached to them are driven by the system rather than tracked by hand. You see what is due, what is at risk and where each job sits without rebuilding a status report every week.
Will it work with Xero, the ATO and the tools we already use?+
Custom software does not mean replacing everything at once. We model where your practice's source of truth should live, then connect the systems that stay — ledgers, document management, email and lodgement channels — so data flows instead of being re-keyed. What we replace and what we integrate is a decision we make with you.
How long does it take to go live?+
Because the software is engineered directly from the model, builds reach a working production system in weeks rather than quarters. Larger platforms grow from there, and we stay on as your practice changes so the software follows.
Is this viable for a small or mid-sized accounting practice?+
Yes — that is our focus. We work with practices that have outgrown off-the-shelf tools but do not want the cost and risk of a large enterprise build. You get software shaped to your firm without an enterprise price tag or timeline.
Where is our data held?+
Siphr is based in Brisbane and builds for Australian firms. Hosting and data handling are set up around your practice's obligations, and residency, access and retention are decided with you as part of the build.
